What is this tool?

This free random Australian phone number generator instantly creates realistic-looking AU phone numbers — mobile (0491 57x xxx), landline, toll-free and local-rate. Toll-free is Australia's free-call 1800 family and local-rate is the 1300 family. Press Generate, choose a type, and copy the result. Every number is a safe placeholder, never a real person's line.

Common uses

Are these real Australian numbers?

No. Every number comes from the ranges ACMA reserves for use in TV shows, films and creative works. These are never assigned to a real customer, so they are non-dialable and safe to use anywhere you need a placeholder. The full source is listed at the foot of this page with the date it was last checked.

Frequently asked questions

Is this generator free?

Yes. It is completely free to use, with no sign-up and no limits.

Will these numbers ever ring a real person?

No. They use the ranges ACMA reserves for creative works, which are never allocated to real customers.

Can I generate a premium (190x) number?

No, and deliberately so. ACMA's list of numbers reserved for creative works has only three categories — geographic, mobile, and toll-free/local-rate. It reserves no premium-rate 1900 number for fiction, so any 1900 number could belong to a real premium service and put real, charged calls through to it. Because there is no safe reserved range to draw from, this tool does not offer a premium type.

Do you support other countries?

Yes — try the random US phone number generator for (555) numbers and the random UK phone number generator. Use the header nav to switch.
